Fresh Foods

I came upon this website while looking for what types of "real" food our dogs can eat. It's informative.

http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/health/common/feeding.html

turns out dogs are much better off with fresh food (not table scraps) like fresh chicken, turkey, raw fruits and veggies, brown rice and oatmeal etc.

i am weary about commercially manufactured dog foods. Grocery brands are probably in my opinion the worst. We feed our dogs Royal Canin. There's none of that artificial additives or chemical preservatives. We've tried Eukanauba and Science Diet.. it made both pugs gasey and their stool on the soft side. There are just so many brands out there and alot of mysterious ingredients. Just read labels carefully, even doggie treats. It's part of the reason why I started making my own..

PROS Pug Rescue Needs Help

I recently got an e-mail from PROS Pug Rescue of Sacramento asking for help finding foster homes because of the recent waves of foreclosures in california. please help of you can:

Right now I have at least 5 pugs needing refuge. They range anywhere from the age of 2 years up to 8 yrs old. I've been told that most are in good health, one is almost blind and has ear infections. Tomorrow alone I am getting in 3 Pugs - 2 of them from a Bay Area shelter and both ill; one was facing euthanasia and we have gotten 6 in the past 1 1/2 weeks. Please, if you can help by fostering even short term please get in touch with me. Every pug rescue in CA is jammed to the brim right now and we need help.I do want to thank all of you for your continuing support of PROS - every foster Pug owes you all a great debt.

Meet the Pack

Meet Charlie: the first of our pack..loves to eat, sleep and get into all kinds of mischevious trouble nothing out of the norm of being a pug. WHen we're not looking he loves to sneak into the bathroom and yank the whole roll of toilet paper and start feasting away. or grabbing the napkins off the table as a snack.

Meet Linus: the second of our threesome. charlie had separation anxiety so we decided to get a second pug. sooner vs. later. Linus is much better behaved, loves to hang out on your shoulder (thinks he's a parrot) and crawl under the warm blanket and snuggle under your arm pit or between your legs. Linus snores even louder than charlie.

And Ginger: our newest addition a yellow lab with a pink nose. Is so cute! We love her! She is perfectly content chilling out on the couch all day and stealing the occasional char siu bau (chinese BBQ pork bun) off the counter. She's a little neurotic when it comes to her fetching her ball at the dog park. It's gotta be her ball but unfortunately lets the bigger dogs steal her ball away from her. When I finally have to wrestle the ball away from the bigger dogs. Oh Ginger!
